Beginning
FIMA Save Vision was established as a global humanitarian initiative under the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA) to address the growing burden of preventable blindness in underserved communities. The program began in the mid-2000s in response to humanitarian crises, particularly in conflict-affected regions such as Darfur, where access to basic eye care was extremely limited.
What started as emergency eye care relief soon evolved into a long-term global movement focused on sustainable eye health. Over the years, FIMA Save Vision expanded its reach across Africa, Asia, and other regions by organizing large-scale eye camps, performing sight-restoring surgeries, and partnering with local health systems.
